We are part of the International Association of Lions Clubs, the world's largest and most active service club organisation, founded in Chicago in 1917 and founded in South Africa in 1957. The Groote Schuur Lions Club was chartered on 9th April 1990 with 31 members. |

We serve in any way we can, to lessen the burden of those less fortunate than ourselves. We achieve this by organising service projects for: the Deaf, Blind, Physically and Mentally Handicapped, Senior Citizens and Underpriveleged People. |

All Lions believe, regardless of religious of political convictions, age, race or income, that there are people in greater need than ourselves and that by a joint effort we can achieve more than each of us can do as individuals. We enjoy our Lionism because the contribution which we all make, provides satisfaction and fellowship. Our service obligations are met by money received from fundraising projects. |
